Ingredients

  • 1 9-inch deep-dish pie crust, unbaked
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
  • 1 cup diced cooked turkey ham
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions or parsley (optional, for garnish)

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking sheet
  • Skillet
  • Pie dish (9-inch deep-dish)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and place the unbaked 9-inch deep-dish pie crust on a baking sheet.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add 1/2 cup diced onion, 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper, and 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper. Sauté the vegetables for 4-5 minutes until softened.
  3. Add 1 cup diced cooked turkey ham to the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to warm through. Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  4. Spread the ham and vegetable mixture evenly in the pie crust and sprinkle 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese over it.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together 5 large eggs, 1 cup whole milk, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper until smooth.
  6. Pour the egg custard mixture carefully over the filling in the crust.
  7. Bake the quiche for 40-45 minutes, or until the center is just set and the top is beautifully golden brown.
  8. Remove the quiche from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
  9. If desired, garnish with chopped green onions or parsley and serve.

Notes

This quiche is ideal for meal prep as it tastes even better the next day. You can easily swap turkey ham for regular ham or try a mix of different cheeses for an extra flavor dimension. Experiment with alternative vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or tomatoes. For a lighter option, unsweetened almond milk can replace whole milk, and serving with a fresh salad or fruit can elevate the dish even further.
