Ingredients

  • 6 chicken tenders cut in half
  • 15 ounces pineapple slices plus reserved juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 package King's Hawaiian sweet rolls

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Paper towel

Method

  1. In a bowl, combine 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon ginger, and about half of the juice from the pineapple slices. (Many home cooks prefer using all of the pineapple juice and doubling the other ingredients for extra flavor.)
  2. Whisk in 1 tablespoon of cornstarch until the mixture is completely smooth, creating a thick sauce.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the 6 halved chicken tenders and cook until they are no longer pink and reach an internal temperature of 165°F. If too much oil accumulates, briefly drain the excess on a paper towel.
  4. Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked chicken and let it simmer on low heat, allowing the sauce to thicken and fully coat the chicken.
  5. Warm the King's Hawaiian sweet rolls according to the package directions until they are soft and pillowy.
  6. Assemble the sliders by placing a piece of chicken and a slice of pineapple into each roll, creating the perfect handheld bite of tropical goodness.

Notes

For an extra burst of flavor, double the sauce ingredients if you like your sliders extra saucy. You can substitute chicken tenders with shredded rotisserie chicken or even teriyaki tofu for a vegetarian twist. Stick with King’s Hawaiian sweet rolls to maintain the authentic flavor, as regular buns won’t deliver the same sweetness. These sliders are versatile and pair wonderfully with tropical sides like coleslaw, coconut rice, or an arugula salad with citrus vinaigrette.
