  • Salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Medium-sized bowl
  • Mixing spoon
  • Knife

Method

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, coarsely crush the saltine crackers with your hands, leaving large pieces to retain their crunch.
  2. Add the finely chopped large tomato, green onions, and hard-boiled egg to the bowl.
  3. Gradually stir in the mayonnaise, using between 1/2 to 1 1/2 cups depending on how creamy you like your salad.
  4. Season with salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste.
  5. Mix everything well and serve immediately to ensure the crackers maintain their signature crunch.

Notes

This Georgia Cracker Salad is best served immediately after mixing so that the crackers retain their delightful crunch. For a variation, try swapping saltine crackers with butter crackers or adding crumbled bacon for extra richness. If you prefer a creamier version, you can mix in a spoonful of sour cream along with the mayonnaise. Feel free to experiment with regular onions if green onions are unavailable.
