Ingredients

Lobster Tails
  • 2 lobster tails (about 6-8 oz each)
Garlic Butter Sauce
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon chopped parsley fresh or dried
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
For Serving
  • lemon wedges for serving

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Foil-lined baking sheet
  • Kitchen shears
  • Small bowl
  • Pastry brush

Method

  1. Preheat your oven broiler to 500°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and position it about 5-6 inches from the heat source.
  2. Using kitchen shears, carefully cut along the top of each lobster shell down to the tail. Gently lift the meat so it rests on top of the shell while remaining attached at the base. Pat the lobster meat dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, combine 4 tablespoons melted unsalted butter with 2 cloves of finely minced garlic, 1 teaspoon fresh-squeezed lemon juice, 1 teaspoon chopped parsley, 1/4 teaspoon paprika, and a pinch of salt and black pepper. Mix well to form your garlic butter sauce.
  4. Generously brush half of the garlic butter sauce over the exposed lobster meat, ensuring it covers all the nooks and crannies.
  5. Place the lobster tails on the foil-lined baking sheet and broil for 8-10 minutes. Brush with the remaining garlic butter halfway through the cooking time. The lobster tails are done when the meat turns opaque and develops a slight golden-brown color.
  6. Just before serving, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the lobster tails. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

This recipe marries simplicity and luxury in one beautiful dish. Fresh lobster tails are the star, and by using quality ingredients like unsalted butter, fresh garlic, and freshly squeezed lemon juice, you get a sauce that truly enhances the natural sweetness of the lobster. Feel free to experiment with substitutions such as using shrimp or sea scallops if lobster isn’t available, and consider grilling instead of broiling for a subtly different flavor. Make-ahead prep is possible by measuring out the sauce, but it's best to cook the lobster tails fresh so they maintain their succulent texture.
