Ingredients

For the Cheesy Garlic Bread
  • 1 loaf French or Italian bread sliced in half lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened (about 1 stick)
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano optional
  • Pinch salt

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking sheet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Cutting board
  • Spreading knife or spatula

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter, 3 minced garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano (if using), and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth and fragrant.
  3. Place the sliced bread halves on a cutting board. Generously spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of both halves.
  4. Evenly sprinkle 2 cups shredded mozzarella and 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese over the buttered bread halves.
  5. Transfer the prepared bread onto your baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  6. For a perfectly golden top, switch the oven to broil for 1-2 minutes. Watch very carefully to avoid burning.
  7. Remove the bread from the oven, garnish with extra chopped parsley, slice while still warm, and serve immediately.

Notes

This cheesy garlic bread is as versatile as it is delicious. You can easily customize it by swapping out cheeses or using different types of bread, such as ciabatta or hamburger buns. The key is to use quality ingredients—fresh garlic and freshly grated cheeses yield the best results. Be sure to keep an eye on the bread during the broil step to achieve a golden-brown finish without burning.
